Municipal Council chairman shot dead in Bhiwani
Bhiwani, Jun 23 (UNI) Bhiwani Municipal Council chairman Nand Lal Chawla was shot dead by three unidentified youths today when he came out of a local showroom back to his car.
The motorcycle-borne assailants attacked Nand Lal Chawla as he came out of the showroom of the Bhiwani Texlile Mill, where he had gone on an official visit this afternoon. They started firing when Chawla opened the door of his car, deflated one of the tyres of the vehicle and then shot bullets at him from a close range, police said.
Chawla was hit by four of the six bullets fired. He died on the spot, having suffered serious injuries in the abdomen as well as his face.
After committing the murder, the attackers immediately fled away on their motorcycle.
Police later took the body of the deceased to the local civil hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
The district Superintendent of Police (SP) said an alert had been sounded to trace the culprits and a case had been registered in this connection.
