New Delhi, Jun 23 (UNI) Delhi Police today claimed to have solved the June 15 murder case with the arrest of two persons namely Rijaul Karim and Manoj Pandit.
An unidentified body of a man aged around 25 years was found in a gunny bag in Chirag Delhi area. The post-mortem report had confirmed death due to strangulation, Deputy Comissioner of Police (DCP), G H S Dhaliwal said here today.
After extensive local enquiries and wide publicity the deceased was identified as Ramakant Parida, a worker of Jagannath printing press in Shahpur Jat. The gunny bag in which the body was packed had marking of Jang Bahadur Singh, Jallandar and Prahlad Singh, Krishi Farm, Agra which helped in tracing the sacks to a vegetable vendor in Shahpur Jat, New Delhi.
Following this a police team was sent to Shahpur Jat and enquiries led to the identification of three person -- Rijaul Karim, Manoj Pandit, Sushant -- who were seen with the deceased a night before the murder.
Subsequently, Rijaul Karim was arrested on Friday, which also led to the arrest of other accused Manoj Pandit. During investigation, the accused confessed of having killed Ramakant so as to take money as well as to conceal their involvement in stealing a computer from Jagannath printing press.
At the instance of the accused, a pair of slippers of the deceased, a wooden stick used in commission of offence, the stolen computer, one cycle and a part of electric wire were recovered.
Third accused Sushant Jat is absconding and efforts are being made to trace him.
