Haryana puts ban on fishing by using nets from July 1 to Aug 31
Chandigarh, Jun 23 (UNI) In view of fish breeding period from July 1 to August 31, the Haryana Government has imposed a ban on fishing by using nets in the scheduled waters of the state during this period.
A spokesman of the Fisheries Department said that the ban had been imposed under Punjab Fisheries rules, 1914 and Haryana Fisheries Rules, 1996 made therein.
Strict action would be taken under the rules against those found catching fish in the scheduled waters by using nets, he added.
Catching or killing fish by electric current or dynamite or by any other explosive is also a crime under Section 7 (5) of Haryana Fisheries Rules, 1996.
He appealed to the public not to catch fish from the scheduled waters of the state during the fish breeding period.
