Govt has agreed for CBI probe in family suicide case: Hooda
Kurukshetra, Jun 23 (UNI) The Haryana government has requested the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to conduct probe into the mass suicide by the Mamchand family.
Disclosing this to the media here today, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said now it was upto the premier investigating agency to initiate the probe.
However, if the family members of the deceased want the state government to request the CBI again for early action, the government would do so, the CM said after inaugurating the National Integration and Harmony Training Camp being held in the town.
The CM said it was on Mamchand family members' request that the government had agreed to hand over the probe to the CBI.
As the state government has already referred the case to the CBI, the state police now cannot probe into the matter, he clarified.
Seated in a car, eight members of the Mamchand family had allegedly committed suicide by driving the vehicle into a canal.
In the suicide note recovered from their residence, the family had named certain persons who had cheated them and forced them to take the extreme step.
