Finance minister gets 'Glory of India' Award
Panaji, June 23 (UNI) Goa's Finance Minister Dayanand Narvekar has been selected for the prestigious ''Glory of India'' award, instituted by the India International Friendship Society, London.
The award, to be presented at a ceremony on June 28 in London, had been conferred on people achieving excellence in different fields. .
The previous recipients of the award include Mother Teresa, former Vice-President B D Jatti and renowned cricketer Sunil Gavaskar.
Mr Narvekar has also been invited by Gavaskar to attend a silver jubilee function, to be celebrated by the Indian Cricket Team, on its winning the Prudential World Cup in 1983.
The Minister, however, was unable to attend both the functions, according to an official release here today.
