Chennai, Jun 23 (UNI) Two crew members, working in a Tamil film, were crushed to death when a temporary lift, installed to carry film equipment to the top floor, collapsed in the city today.
Police said the tragedy occurred when the crew members were busy shooting on the sets of ''Sarvam,'' in which sctor Arya and Trisha play the lead roles.
The film is being directed by Vishnuvardhan. As the shooting was planned on the top floor of the 11-storeyed building, which was under construction, a temporary lift was installed to take the equipment to that floor.
The production assistants and camera crew were taking the equipment, when the lift wires suddenly snapped and it hurtled down with a big thud. The lift had crossed the fifth floor by then.
Three people, who were standing beneath, were caught under the lift.
Udayakumar (24) was crushed to death on the spot while Sikamani and Appanraj were rushed to hospital where Sikamani succumbed.
In yet another mishap during a film shoot at Tiruchendur in Southern Tuticorin district, fingers of a sound engineer were cut while shooting for the film ''Anthony'', when a piece of equipment fell on him while shooting a comedy scene involving actor Vivek.
