Ferrous and Non-ferrous metals rise

Mumbai, Jun 23 (UNI) Ferrous and non-ferrous metals moved up today on increase in fresh demand by stockists and firm advice from Kolkata, Delhi and other centres following strong global advice from London Metal Exchange (LME), traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said.

In ferrous metal category, all the metals witnessed an upward march as copper heavy and brass cuttings edged up by Rs 200 each and closed at Rs 38,200 and Rs 26,900 per quintal respectively amid heavy demand by industrial users.

Copper utensils, brass utensils and aluminium utensils also advanced by Rs 100 per quintal each because of lesser stock supply by stockists.

Copper utensils and brass utensils finished at Rs 33,900 and Rs 25,200 per quintal respectively. Aluminium utenils closed at Rs 11,400 per quintal.

In non-ferrous metals, copper wire bars and aluminium ingot inched up by Rs 300 per quintal each amid renewed buying support by stockists and closed at Rs 41,600 and Rs 14,900 per quintal. Zinc slab also soared by Rs 100 and finished at Rs 10,200 per quintal.

Tin slab was up by Rs 10 to finish at Rs 1,160 per kg amid improved demand by stockists while nickel cathode fell by Rs 5 per kg and closed at Rs 1,215 per kg on sluggish demand by bulk consumers, traders added.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy - Rs 38,200, copper utensils - Rs 33,900, brass utensils - Rs 25,200, brass cuttings - Rs 26,900 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,400.

Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars - Rs 41,600, aluminium ingots - Rs 14,900, zinc slab - Rs 10,200, lead ingots - Rs 10,400, tin slab - Rs 1,160 per kg and nickel cathode - Rs 1,215 per kg.
