Mirzapur, June 22 (UNI) An anti-naxal training centre would soon be set up in this naxal-infested district of Uttar Pradesh.
It would be the first of its kind in the state and third in the country after Hyderabad and Chhattisgarh.
Till now, only Greyhound in Hyderabad and Kanker in Chhattisgarh had these centre, where cops were taught ways to fight with the growing menace of naxalism.
The Centre has given its nod for this new training centre, which would be established in Bargava firing range under Chunar colony of this district.
The Centre has even released Rs 56 lakh for work under the first phase.
Giving details, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Vindhyanchal range, Chandradev Tiwari today said ''the structure of new anti-naxal training centre, which is proposed to be made on the lines of Greyhound centre, is being prepared.'' Earlier, the cops garrisoned at the naxal-infested areas were sent to Hyderabad and Chhattisgarh to get training, but now they would be taught in UP itself, the DIG noted.
