Tehsildar, BDO among 12 officials suspended by Azad

Srinagar, Jun 22 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has ordered suspension of about 12 senior officers, including Block Development Officer (BDO), Tehsildar and engineers for remaining unauthorisedly absent from duty, an official spokesman said today.

He said Mr Azad during a surprise visit of Marwah and Wardwan yesterday found various government functionaries absent from duty and ordered their immediate suspension.

He said the employees suspended from service included Tehsildar, Iqbal Singh, BDO Masood Ahmad Qazi, Tehsil Supply Officer Manzoor Ahmad, one Junior Engineer of Public Works Department, one Mohammad Aslam Lone employee of Marwah.

BDO Manzoor Ahmad Mattoo, AEE, PWD, Mohammad Aslam, JEs, Mohammad Imtiaz Bhat, Mansoor Ahmad and Dev Raj and Incharge Exen, AEs and JEs of PHE Wardwan were also placed under suspension, he added .

The Chief Minister has directed the administrative secretaries and heads of departments to ensure the presence of functionaries of all levels of respective departments even in remote and inaccessible areas in all the three geographical regions of Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh.

He said the heads of departments would be directly held responsible for the absence of the officers and officials in remote areas.
