Mumbai, Jun 22 (UNI) Actor Priety Zinta today cautioned film-makers that they will not succeed with the run-of-the-mill type of films, as the audience had become demanding and choosy, especially with the mushrooming of television channels.
When asked about a string of failures of films released during the year so far, Priety told UNI, the market scene was 'demand over power to supply'. Routine stuff have become irrelevant and people look for something that draws them to theatres. With inflation at a high of over 11 per cent the audience would definitely look for value for money.
With a huge string of successes rather than flops, Priety, ten years down the line, is now looking for some more challenging roles and she looks with confidence the four releases she would be having during the later half of 2008. The films were 'Har Pal' with Dharmendra, 'Hero' with Salman Khan, Sunny Doel and Bobby Deol, 'Heaven on Earth' directed by Deepa Mehta and an English film 'Last lear', Rituaprna Ghosh film that had been widely screened in various film festivals, but yet to be released. She plans to start shooting for the film 'Mr and Mrs Khanna' sometime next year.
She said she was waiting for the release of 'Heaven on Earth' and was all praise for Deepa Mehta.
Priety, who would be accompanying the Bachchans in their 'Unforgettable tour' beginning July 18 in Toronto, said that she was looking forward to a good rest, especially after an hectic IPL schedule. She was not keen on signing any films for the moment as she wanted the current schedules to be completed.
She was happy that some of directors readily accepted her need to take up roles that were more challenging instead of run-of-the-mill masala stuff. ''A change has to come for everyone, an actor becomes a star and would like to do inspiring roles,'' she said, adding she would not brood over her failures.
