Pune, Jun 22 (UNI) Around 58 officers of the 35th course of the National Defence Academy came together here for a reunion from June 20-22.
The officers, some retired and some still serving came along with their wives.
These officers had joined NDA as cadets in 1965, exactly 43 years ago. All of them had seen real action in 1971 and many of them were awarded medals for their contribution. Wg Cdr (retd) Rakesh Sharma, AC, who was the first Indian in space, was also part of the course, who attended the reunion.
They stayed in the cadets cabins to get the feel of their cadet days again. The seniors participated eagerly in various activities like riding, sailing, squash tennis, swimming and others. They returned back with nostalgic and fond memories of their training days.
Such reunions are organised by the NDA not only to encourage and inspire the young cadets, but also to build a common bond of camaraderie amongst the officers of the yesteryears and the future officers of the armed forces, a press release stated.
