Mumbai, Jun 21 (UNI) Three people, including the bodyguard of Ram Rahim Singh, the controversial spiritual leader of the Dera Sachcha Sauda sect, were arrested by the Raigarh police late last night for allegedly firing at protesters in Mulund and killing a person and injuring three others.
Joint Commissioner of Police K L Prasad said three people -- bodyguard of Ram Rahim Singh Jaidev Singh, Gurusingh (30), who had allegedly fired; Satnam Singh Arora (34) and Rajkumar Bhishmalal Taneja (39), all hailing from Haryana, have been arrested.
The trio were arrested by the Raigarh police while they were on their way to Uttar Pradesh and they would be handed over to Mumbai Crime Branch.
They were booked under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). They would be produced in front of metropolitan magistrate for remand in the later part of the day.
It may be noted that a group of Sikhs held a protest against Ram Rahim Singh at Nirmal Lifestyle Mall in Mulund while he had come to attend a programme there.
Most of the educational institutes run by the Sikh community would remain closed today to protest against the firing. A group of the community also made peaceful protest outside Mulund police station.
Few people ransacked the Mulund railway station and some forcibly shut down shops in the eastern suburb.
