Over 32,000 farmers in HP to benifit from debt relief scheme
Shimla, Jun 21 (UNI) As many as 32,000 farmers in Himachal Pradesh have been identified so far who would be covered under Centre's Agriculture Debt Waiver and Relief Scheme.
HP State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) General Manager and Convener stated this in the meeting of the financial institutions in the state held here today to review the progress made under the scheme.
Mr Ripan Murgai said the banks have already identified 32,000 farmers up to June 18 who would be given debt waiver and relief under the scheme and added that the identification process would be over tomorrow and the final figures regarding the total number of eligible farmers and the amount of waiver and relief would be sent to SLBC.
He asked all member banks to ensure that the whole implementation process is completed by June 30.
He informed that all the individual farmers who have availed loans for agriculture purpose through a Self Help Group and for whom the SHG has maintained individual record in their books to the satisfaction of the lending institution, would also be covered under the scheme.
Mr S K Bal General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, Mr Rajendra Singh, General Manager, NABARD and regional Heads of all the banks at Shimla attended the meeting.
