Maharashtra: Dera-Sikh clash in Mulund kills 1
Mumbai, Jun 21:Mumbai Police has arrested three people in connection with the alleged killing of a man by the bodyguard of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on Friday, June 20. Gurmeet Ram Rahim is the chief of a Sikh sect Dera Saccha Sauda based in Haryana's Sirsa.
According to reports, the Dera chief had gone to visit a shopping complex in Mumbai where members of the Sikh group were also present. The Sikhs raised anti-Dera slogans, which led to an altercation between Singh's supporters and the Sikh group, that later turned violent. Singh, who has been the target of Sikh ire after he dressed up as Guru Gobind Singh in May, 2007 was at Nirmal Lifestyle mall when his path was blocked by Sikh protesters. The standoff intensified when the Dera chief"s bodyguards tried to restrain them. A bodyguard fired two rounds even as Singh was whisked away.

was
intercepted
by
the
police
in
Panvel.
He
is
holding
a
spiritual
camp,
where
he
was
headed.
Police Commissioner Hasan Gafoor said a team has been dispatched to arrest the bodyguard. After the firing, over 1,000 Sikhs blocked traffic in Bhandup.
