Flood affects 19 villages in Damoh district
Bhopal, Jun 21: At least 19 villages in Damoh district in northern Madhya Pradesh were affected by flood due to incessant rains for the last four days.
Water level in the rivers and rivulets were on the rise as 25 centimetre rainfall was recorded in Hata tahsil yesterday, official sources said.
Flood situation prevailed in 2 villages of Patharia block, 8 villages of Batiagarh block and 9 villages of Hata block.
The district authorities started 8 relief camps for the flood-hit people in Hata. Residents of villages on the bank of rivers had been requested to move to safer places.
District Collector sought the assistance of Jabalpur Station Commander to deploy a helicopter to rescue 10 people trapped in flood waters in Batiagarh area.
Besides providing food packets to those taking shelter in relief camps, the district authorities had directed health and public health engineering officials to provide clean drinking water and medicines to the needy, the sources said.
