London, June 21 : Austrian incest fiend Josef Fritzl's cellar family has been allowed to watch Euro 2008 on TV - so that they can bond with the rest of the family.

Medical experts had earlier ordered that Fritzl's daughter Elisabeth, 42, and her six children - who were held as captive by their evil dad in a dungeon -should not watch live telly in case they saw potentially upsetting news about themselves.

But psychiatrists at a clinic in Amstetten, Austria, have relented - as long as the set is switched on and off immediately before and after matches.

The move is helping the two sides of the family bond as they get a taste of the fervour sweeping their country - hosting the tournament with Switzerland, although Austria has now been eliminated.

Footy fan Fritzl, 73, let his cellar family watch TV matches to pass the time.

He would also take "overground" son Alexander, 12, to see local side Amstetten.

"It will take a lot of adjustment but football is something everyone can share and take part in together," The Sun quoted a source, as saying.

The family now lives in a bungalow in the clinic's grounds, along with Fritzl's wife Rosemarie, 69.

Elisabeth lost a baby during the 24 years she was kept in a cellar with Kerstin, 19, Stefan, 18, and Felix, six.

Their siblings Lisa, 16, Monika, 14, and Alexander lived in Fritzl's house.
