Itanagar, Jun 21 (UNI) Former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang today said there were no valid reasons for abducting his son as he had done nothing against the interest of the state and the people.
Talking to reporters here this afternoon, Mr Apang claimed that during his long political career he had done nothing which could invite grievances from people against him and his family.
''I have no enmity with anybody that could lead to the extent of kidnapping my son. I cannot guess what could have prompted them (the organisation involved) to abduct my son, who is leading a normal life,'' the veteran Congress leader said.
Mr Apang who returned to the state capital yesterday from his home town Yingkiong, further said so far the kidnappers have not contacted him except a phone call informing one of his sons' about the abduction on Thursday morning.
While appealing to the abductors for the safe release of his son and his colleague as early as possible, Mr Apang said there might be some 'misunderstanding' on the whole matter.
'' If some negotiations are to be made we could discuss it instead of making the matter more complicated,'' he said and added that an innocent boy like his son should not be harassed unnecessarily.
Getem Apang in his mid-thirties and his music teacher Naren Rai were picked up at gun point on Wednesday night from the Donyi-Polo School of Music, by unknown miscreants.
'' His (Getem) health was also not well as he was suffering from stomach and throat problems. I pray to Almighty for his release,'' Mr Apang, a visibly depressed man said adding, his son was a fresh graduate and planning to carry on his studies.
