Ahmedabad, Jun 21 (UNI) The second World Gujarati Conference, organised by Association of Indian Americans in North America (AAINA), will be held in New Jersey, USA from August 29.
Addressing mediapersons here today, AAINA President Sunil Nayak said the three-day biannual event, 'Chaalo Gujarat', is an effort to motivate those particularly from the younger generation born and brought up in the US to familiaries them with the rich cultural and traditional values of Gujarat.
He said the event, which saw its inception in September 2006, witnessed one of the biggest ever congregation of the community participating from all walks of life from across the world. The common factor motivating this conference is the bond of a common language. It is for the first time that leaders from various fields will be together for one cause.
He said this year, too, the conference promises to be a congregation of leaders, musicians, poets, litterateurs, businessmen, academicians and sportspersons, who will share the same stage and express their feelings of brotherhood and togetherness for the community.
Asked about denial of visa by the US government to Chief Minister Narendra Modi during the 2006 event that subsequently led to cancellation of his trip, Mr Nayak said, ''His work is limited only to invite Chief Minister of the state.'' He said he will personally go and invite him to the event this time and added that if Mr Modi faces any difficulty to come over there, he will request the Chief Minister to interact with the audience through video conferencing facility.
