UP DGP issues fresh directives for investigating cases
Lucknow, Jun 20 (UNI) In order to prevent misuse of power by the middle rank police officers, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh has prohibited the Deputy Superintendent of Police(DSP) or the Circle Officer(CO) to change the investigation officer or place of any criminal case.
Mr Singh has now authorised only the Superintendent of Police (SP) or the district police chief to change the investigation officer or place, only once, with convincing reasons.
State Additional Director General of Police (Law and order) Brijlal told mediapersons here that now it has been fixed that investigations related to serious cases should be completed with in two months and others in one-month period.
Similarly, the IGs and DIGs, would be able to change investigation officer or place, once, within their respective zones and range.
