Two held for Dr Ghaisas' murder in Pune

Pune, Jun 20 (UNI) City police today arrested two people in connection with the murder of Dr Vijay Ramchandra Ghaisas, a general physician, who was brutally killed by three people at his residence on Prabhat Road here on Monday.

Addressing a news conference, Commissioner of Police Jayant Umranikar said two people had been arrested, while the third is still absconding. One of the arrested accused hails from Nepal.

Mr Umranikar said, following a tip-off, a police team laid a trap at the railway station and arrested the duo after they alighted from Sinhagad Express at the Pune railway station. They have confessed to the crime, he said.

The motive behind the murder was robbery, but when Dr Ghaisas registed these people allegedly attacked and stabbed him to death, the Commissioner said.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sunil Suresh Bodh (20), and Chandar Shivlal Sharma (19), who originially hails from Nepal. Sunil is the grandson of Dr Ghaisas, former domestic help Anusaiya.

Their another accomplice, Ramu Badha Katoriya alias Channu, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, is absconding. A police team has left for Uttar Pradesh to arrests him, Mr Umranikar added.
