Trouble-makers not my supporters: Rane
Mumbai, Jun 20 (UNI) Denying that the trouble-makers at Congress president Sonia Gandhi's rally were his supporters, Maharashtra Revenue Minister Narayan Rane today said he was ready to face a probe in this regard.
Addresing a news conference here, Mr Rane said he was not interested in the Chief Minister's post and that he has full faith in the Congress leadership.
While naming some of the accused involved in the violence, he said a probe in this regard would prove that the accused were neither from his constituency in Konkan nor were they his supporters.
He said the entire incident was stage-managed and was done by forces with ulterior motive to malign his position in the eyes of party leaders and public at large.
Criticising the role of the media during the incident, Mr Rane said it was pre-planned as the media quickly responded to the incident and instead of highlighting the meeting, it started playing up the incident.
Yesterday, two groups of Maharashtra Congressmen clashed at a party function, addressed by party president Sonia Gandhi, at suburban Goregaon. The protesters shouted anti-Chief Minister and pro-Rane slogans besides hurling chairs.
