Taekwondo Nationals from Jun 25

Bangalore, Jun 20 (UNI) Nearly 2000 sportspersons would take part in the Fifth National Open Taekwondo Championship to be held here from June 25.

Briefing newspersons, Taekwondo Federation of India President Harish Kumar said, the federation would also organise the opening National Taekwondo Festival simultaneously.

He said the Federation had extended the contract of National Taekwondo coach Firborz Askari of Iran following his successful stint in his first year as coach.

The players performance in the international championships improved enormously under Firborz, he said.

India would host the 5th Commonwealth Taekwondo Championships in Pune in 2010, he also announced.
