Six people arrested in Mulund firing case

Mumbai, Jun 20 (UNI) The Anti-Extortion Cell (ATC) of city police today arrested six people in connection with the firing incident at the Titan watch showroom at Mulund and seized five weapons and 30 live cartridges from their possession.

Addressing mediapersons here today, Joint Commissioner of Police Rakesh Maria said acting on a tip-off that a group of people, who had allegedly fired at the showroom last wednesday were leaving for Uttar Pradesh/Bihar from Kurla terminus, ATC sleuths, headed by Vijay Salaskar, laid a trap and nabbed them at Kurla Terminus around 1300 hrs today.

They were identified as Aman Ali Rizvi alias Sabbu (25), resident of Muzaffarpur, UP, who headed the group. Mohammed Ahmed Khan (24), resident of Balram Nagar, UP, Manoj Mohan Shah alias Gupta (21), resident of Bihar, Shamsher Ali Mansuri (21) of Bhiwandi, who fired two rounds at glassdoor of the showroom, Sushil Kumar Srivastav (48), resident of Bihar and Siraz Ahmed Ansari (31), resident of Bhiwandi, originally from Sant Kabir Nagar, UP, who had given shelter to them.

Mr Maria said during interrogation, they disclosed that they were working for Satish Shetty, who is presently in jail in connection with a murder case.

Police have also recovered six mobile phones and cash of Rs 46,000 from their possession.

They were produced before the 37th metropolitan court, which remanded them to police custody till July four, he added.
