Bangalore, Jun 20 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for urgent release of state's quota of fertilisers in the wake of severe shortage of the farm input, which had led to widespread agitation by the farmers.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, he said the state had received only 40,927 mt of DAP and 41,928 mt Complex fertilisers so far.

Explaining the plight of the farmers and worsening law and order situation in the state for the want of fertilisers, the Chief Minister requested Singh to take action regarding the supply on a war-footing.

This would not only avert serious law and order situation, but also major loss in agricultural production in the state, he said.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao also wrote a letter to Secretary, Department of Fertilisers J D Sarma and drawn his attention towards the seriousness of the situation in Karnataka.

He also requested him to make the promised supply available to the state, an official release said.
