HOCL plant to generate 60,000 tonnes of caustic soda
Rasayani, Maharashtra, Jun 20 (UNI) Union Chemicals, Fertilizers and Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today said the revived caustic soda plant of Hindustan Organic Chemicals Ltd (HOCL) will be able to generate 60,000 tonnes of caustic soda per year.
The plant had become fully operational in 1997 which was later shut down in 2000.
Inaugurating the plant, the Minister said caustic soda would be utilised in Raigad district as well as by Reliance in western Maharashtra.
Mr Paswan informed that the cost of restarting the project was Rs 25 crore.
The demand of caustic soda is more now and so there will be huge market for the same, he said.
HOCL Chariman A S Didolkar, who was present on the occasion, said a 20 MW gas-based power project would come up in the area, which would cater power to the plant and to the adjoining areas.
He said the discussion for gas with Gas Authorities India Ltd has been done and the report was also prepared by Kirloskar for the same.
