New Delhi, Jun 20 (UNI) An event in the capital to showcase superstar Aamir Khan's nephew Imran proved to be a no show after the debutant displayed media fright and shied away from a tete-a-tete with the media.

The horde of mediapersons gathered at an event on Wednesday evening, the first being attended in Delhi by Imran, who seems to have become a heartthrob of cinegoers even before the release of his debut venture 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na', were taken by surprise when, after his initial introduction to the media in the National Capital, Imran kept still on the stage and remained quiet.

Soon after, Imran, looking dashing in a checked shirt and jeans, made his exit from the stage as suddenly he had appeared.

The event was announcement of an association of the channel Zee Cinema with Imran's forthcoming film 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na',in which he and Genelia D' Souza in the lead roles.

Speaking on the occasion, Imran, whose dashing looks and his charming screen presence that comes across through the television promos of his film have had lakhs of girls from across the country swooning, said he had grown up watching Bollywood films and hence, it was a delight being associated with Zee cinema.

''For me it is an honour to be associated with a great property like Zee cinema which has brought all of us so many big stars like Shahrukh Khan,''Imran said.

Imran added that his favourite film is 'Amar, Akbar, Anthony'.

The mediapersons, many of whom had been waiting expectantly for close to an hour just to have a tete-a-tete with Imran about his film and his life, were left disappointed by the ''brief'' stage appearance of the debutant actor.

They were, however, assured that Imran would visit the Capital in the coming week to talk to them in detail about his film.

Trade observers, however, say Imran's ''media shyness'' is part of a conscious strategy by his uncle and producer of 'Jaane tu Ya Jaane Na..' Aamir Khan to maintain a certain distance with the media till the scheduled release for the film on July 4 in order to maintain a freshness about the film.

Incidentally, 'Jaane tu Ya Jaane Na' would release on July 4 along with Harry Baweja's Sci-fi film 'Love Story 2050', which is his son Harman's launch vehicle.
