Bomb scare proves hoax in Mumbai
Mumbai, Jun 20: An anonymous phone call, saying a bomb has been planted at the Bank of India building in the busy Zaveri Bazaar area of South Mumbai, proved to be a hoax after a thorough search.
Police said at about 1245 hrs, city police control room received an anonymous call about a bomb being planted in the Bank.
Control room informed L T Marg police station, under whose juridication the area falls, and a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was summoned. But, despite carrying out an hour-and-half search of the premises, nothing was found.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a CNG tank of a Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking bus exploded at about 1300 hrs near Eros cinema theatre here. No one was injured in the blast, police added.
