ATS seize explosive materials in Raigad Dist
Mumbai, Jun 20 (UNI) The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of city police has seized a huge quantity of explosives from three different places in Maharashtra.
Talking to mediapersons here today, Joint Police Commissioner Parambir Singh said acting on a tip-off the ATS team raided two places at Warsai village in Pen yesterday and seized one remote control, two radio circuits, 20 detonators, 19 gelatine sticks, photos and a telephone dairy.
During the interrogation of Mangesh Nikam, who was arrested in connection with the Thane theatre blast, he said a huge stock of explosive materials was kept in a gunny bag in Satara district.
Based on the information, a police team went to Satara, from where they seized timers, detonators and other materials yesterday.
A bomb was planted at Vinoba Bhave theatre at Navi Mumbai, which was later difused by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS). Thereafter, one bomb was planted in Gadkari Rangaytan Auditorium at Thane, in which five people were injured. Incidentally, the bombs were placed to disrupt the staging of controversial play 'Amhi Pachpute'.
Police have already arrested four people allegedly belonging to Sanatan Prabhat organisation.
