Suspected HUJI activist sent to ten days police remand
Agartala, Jun 19 (UNI) Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court in west Tripura has sent suspected HUJI activist Mamun Mian alias Suman Majumdar, a national of Bangladesh, to ten-day police custody.
Mamun, who was arrested on March 28 last by West Bengal police in Agartala from his rented house, was produced before the court yesterday.
Tripura Food and Civil Supply Minister Sahid Choudhury had resigned from the sixth Left Front Ministry for his alleged association with Mamun.
The West Bengal police had flown him to Kolkata following specific allegations of his relationship with the HUJI and other fundamentalist organisations.
Meanwhile, Tripura police had registered suo motto case against Mamun under Section 468, 471, 120 (B), 121, 121 (A), 124 and 420 of the IPC for illegally possessing Indian citizenship and ration cards.
There were several cases against Mamun with Shibpur police station of Kolkata. After ten days interrogation he would be brought back to Kolkata, police sources said.
