NIMSME to implement PM's Skill Development Mission
Hyderabad, Jun 19 (UNI) The premier National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NIMSME) will implement the Prime Minister's Skill Development Mission in four Southern states and Madhya Pradesh from this year, its Director General Ch Kondaiah said today.
Under the programme, 10,000 youth of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, would be selected for enterepreneurship and skill development and NIMSME would adopt PPP model for the purpose, he added.
He said NIMSME would conduct diagnostic study of seven clusters in Tamil Nadu. They are chinna dharapuram (Karur), essential oils (Kothagiri), wire products (Mathur and Pudukkottai), fish pickles and processing (Tharangampady), rubber products (Nagercoil), rice mills (Puthuvayal and Pallathur) and rice mills (Alangamkulam).
NIMSME would also conduct a study of development of coir cluster in Salem, Sivaganga, Vellore, Cuddalore, Teni, Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu and Sakigopal and Alanahat in Orissa.
He said NIMSME would provide technical inputs for development of khadi cluster in Sircila and Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh, Belur and Hebbilly in Karnataka, Sulur and Sankarankoil in Tamil Nadu and in Pondicherry.
NIMSME would provide support for development of tribal jewellery cluster in Andhra Pradesh, sisal fibre cluster in Chamrajnagar and woodcraft cluster in Mysore, Siddha and Ayurveda cluster in Dindigul and brass metal cluster in Nachiyarkoil and Godchiroli pottery cluster in Chadrapur in Maharashtra.
