Saharsa, Jun 19 (UNI) JD(U) president Sharad Yadav today promised to formulate an ''Oil Pool Policy'' to regulate the prices of petroleum products, if the NDA was voted to power in the next parliamentary elections.
Mr Yadav told UNI the people were disgusted with the failures of the UPA government's four-year rule at the Centre as prices of essentials were skyrocketing leaving the commoners at the mercy of business people.
''The steep rise of petro products is a major cause of concern as it affects the prices of essential commodities,'' Mr Yadav said, adding the UPA would formulate the oil pool policy to regulate the price of petroleum products in the country without affecting the interests of oil companies in India.
Fed up with the rising prices of essentials as well as the ever increasing unemployments in the country, people were feeling the urge for change of guard at the Centre and they would throw out the UPA government in the next Lok Sabha elections, he said, adding the buffer stocks of foodgrains were not being maintained.
Mr Yadav took strong exception to the permission given by the Centre for purchasing food grains directly from the farmers, saying that only Food Corporation of India should be allowed to continue the purchasing to protect the interest of the common man.
The condition of the farmers had deteriorated during the last four years due to wrong policies and it should be rectified without further loss of time, he suggested.
Referring to the criticism of NDA government in Bihar by RJD supremo and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, the JD(U) president said he was making such kind of baseless allegations against Nitish Kumar government out of nervousness due to growing popularity of NDA government in the state.
