HM militant surrenders in Jammu

Jammu, Jun 19: A long served militant of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) laid down his weapons before army in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, an official spokesman today said.

HM Militant Sajjad Ahmad alias Majid surrendered before 63 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) at Kuchal in Kishtwar yesterday, Defence Ministry Spokesman Lt Col S D Goswami told UNI.

Majid, who was active since 1994, handed over to the RR, one AK Rifle and three rounds, the spokesman added.

Since last year, several militants including top commanders of various militant outfits - Lashkar-e Toiba, Harkat-ul Jehad-e Islami (HuJI) and HM - have surrendered before the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
