Ahmedabad, Jun 19 (UNI) The BJP parliamentary board today selected new first citizens, including two women, for five city corporations of the state, as the two-and-a-half-year tenure of existing mayors of these municipal corporations ends by this month.
In the three Saurashtra corporations, where BJP is ruling, the party has selected Sandhya Vyas as mayor of Rajkot, Reena Shah as mayor of Bhavnagar and Kanaksinh Jadeja for Jamnagar.
In Vadodara city Balubhai Shukla has been selected as mayor, while sitting BJP MLA Ranjit Giletwala, who is second sitting MLA to become a mayor, will be the first citizen of Surat.
After getting the mandate from the parliamentary board, all the candidates were formally elected by the respective municipal corporation bodies today.
In Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, party had selected Kanaji Thakore as the mayor a fortnight back.
