Jammu, Jun 19 (UNI) With the cooperation of Pakistan army, security forces today foiled an infiltration bid of heavily armed militants from Krishna Ghati (KG) in Poonch district after about five-hour- long cross border firing.

''In a significant move, Pakistan army shared information of militants' movement near LoC with their Indian counterparts, and after subsequent shootout from both the sides between 1215 hrs and 1730 hrs the attempt of ultras was foiled from KG in Poonch,'' Defence Ministry spokesman Lt Col S D Goswami told UNI.

Militants, assumed to be two to three in number, had attempted to cross into the Indian side from the LoC near Kranti border outpost in KG, the spokesman said.

All the infiltrators reverted to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), he informed.

Infiltration attempts from the borders have shown rise in Jammu and Kashmir in the past couple of months.
