Everester Kalpana ill,admitted to hospital
Bhubaneswar, Jun 19 (UNI) Ailing Everester Kalpana Das was today admitted to a private hospital here.
Orissa's Chief Secretary Ajit Tripathy said the government will bear all medical expenses for Kalpana's treatment.
This arrangment was being made after the Everester herself along with her mother and brother called on the chief secretary.
He said if situation needed she would be sent either to All India Institute of Medical Science, New Delhi, or to any specialised hospital for further treatment.
Kalpana scaled the World's highest peak on May 21 last. She fell ill in the base camp on May 25 while returning and was rushed to a hospital in Kathmandu. Later she was brought to her native place in Dhenkanal.
Nationalist Congress Party(NCP)General Secretary D P Tripathy who along with other NCP leaders visited her residence at Dhenkanal yesterday and offered treatment in the AIIMS.
Kalpana said she had so far received an assistance of Rs 10,000 from the Red Cross and another Rs 10,000 from the Collector Dhenkanal towards her treatment.
