The CBI had summoned Dr Anita Durrani and her husband Dr Praful Durrani for questioning on Wednesday. The couple were grilled for several hours. It has been learnt that the two were also subjected to a psycho-analysis test. This is the first time the two were summoned to the CBI headquarters. The CBI had conducted a lie detector test on their help, Rajkumar, on June 17.
Dr Talwar's compounder Krishna, meanwhile, continues to be in the custody of the CBI. Looking for a breakthrough in the case, the CBI is probing all angles including the role of neighbours and their domestic helps. Sources said that the investigators are also looking at the possibility that Aarushi's murder may have been a contract killing. Aarushi's mother Nupur had apparently withdrawn Rs 26,000 from her HDFC Bank account two days before the murder.
Aarushi, a class IX student of Delhi Public School in Noida, was found in her bedroom with her throat slit on May 14. A day later, Hemraj, the Nepali help of the Talwar household, who was initially named as prime suspect by Noida Police, was found dead on the terrace. His throat was also slit in a similar manner.
Aarushi's father, Dr Rajesh Talwar was arrested on May 16 after being questioned by the Noida police. He is under judicial custody now.
