158 Haryana villages chosen for rural stadia

Chandigarh, Jun 19 (UNI) The Haryana government has selected 158 villages for building sports stadia as part of its plan to develop one stadium in each block of the state.

Stating this here today, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dharambir Singh said Haryana Rural Development Fund Administration Board (HRDFAB) had released a sum of Rs 56 crore for the construction of sports stadia at a cost of Rs 40 lakh per stadium.

A sum of Rs 12.44 crore had been sanctioned for providing water supply facilities in these stadia.

Mr Dharambir said the standard design and drawings had been prepared by Sports Department in consultation with Punjab Engineering College and Panchayati Raj Department for the stadium.

As per standard design, each stadium was being developed on 6.5 acres of land.

The land would be made available by respective Panchayats to District Sports Councils headed by Deputy Commissioner for the construction of each stadium.
