Mahoba, Jun 18: Notorious criminal Pooran Kacchi, who was carrying a reward of Rs 5,000 from the Uttar Pradesh and the Madhya Pradesh government, was gunned down in a fierce police enounter here.
As the outlaw was active in both UP and MP, the two governments had declared a bounty of Rs 2,500 each on him.
Superintendent of Police (SP) R P Singh said Kacchi and his gang members were hiding in a jungle near Kainthora village, when the local cops cordoned of the area to nail them down.
But the syndicate opened fire upon the police and Kacchi died in retaliatory firing by the sleuths.
His other associates however, managed to escape, the SP added.
A 12 bore country made pistol and a haul of cartridges were seized from the spot.
Kacchi was facing charges in over six criminal cases.
Meanwhile, the winning police team have been awarded with Rs 7,500.
