Views of political parties must be elicited on statehood issue
Puducherry, June 18(UNI) The Puducherry unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) today urged the administration to hold discussions with the leaders of all political parties here to elicit their views on the issue of statehood status for Puducherry.
In a statement here today NCP President G Sundaramurthy welcomed the decision of the Chief Minister N Rangasamy to take the legislators to New Delhi to press Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and AICC President Mrs Sonia Gandhi to confer statehood for Puducherry and said prior to it, the views of all political party leaders be heard.
The delegation from Puducherry should meet the leaders of political parties there to the demand for statehood.
Mr Sundaramurthy said the administration was paralyised here due to financial constraints and several projects could not be implemented. In the neighbouring Tamil Nadu,the government had shouldered the burden of the price hike for LPG cylinders to the tune of Rs 30 and also announced MSP for paddy.
