London, June 18 : A local council in the UK has resorted to a novel measure to reduce prostitution in a city - a 30,000 pounds-a-year "sex work co-ordinator."
The odd job has been slammed as "a waste of taxpayers' money," reports The Sun.
Muriel Cole, a Lib Dem councillor in Bristol, said that the salary was more than paramedics and firemen earn.
"How on earth can one person change something that has been taking place in this city for centuries?"she said.
There are approximately 400 hookers in the city and at least 95 per cent are addicted to crack or heroin.
Labour's Derek Pickup said: "Someone is needed to deal with these problems."
