Belgrade, Jun 18 (UNI) Indian shooter Ronjan Sodhi fired a superb score of 194/200 to win the gold in the men's double trap event at the ISSF World Cup here today.
Sodhi faced tough competition from Richard Faulds of of Great Britain as both had a total of 97 in the first two rounds.
However, Sondhi was on fire in the third round as he shot a perfect score of 50 to open up a two point lead.
The Indian shot a 47 in the final round as he held on to his lead to clinch the gold medal while Faulds had to be content with the silver with a total of 192.
Sodhi has now firmly established himself as a firm favourite for a medal at the Beijing Olympics in August and would be looking to better the record of ace Indian shooter Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore who had won the silver in the double trap event at the Athens Olympics in 2004.
