Srinagar, Jun 18 (UNI) A Raj Bhavan spokesperson in the Jammu and Kashmir today regretted the false allegations against Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) being published by certain sections of the media.
He said despite repeated clarifications, the statements issued by us are being twisted to convey wrong message.
Referring to the media interaction of Chief Executive Officer, (CEO) of SASB Dr Arun Kumar here yesterday, the spokesman clarified that when he was asked about the duration for which the land at Baltal has been transfered to SASB, he specified that no time limit has been given in the Government Order go issued in this regard except the stipulation that the Board has to construct only temporary prefab shelters.
Yet it was reported in a newspaper: ''Land Transfer Permanent: CEO''' ''We won't return it'', in a most provocative manner, he added.
It has also been found that in an attempt to vilify the Head of the State, not only false statements have been made by some responsible people but ignorance of the Constitution has been shown.
A Governor assumes appointment after taking oath of office which is possible only after the outgoing Governor has departed. Therefore the question of there being two Governors at one time does not arise at all, the spokesman said.
He added that the notification of the appointment does not give the date for Governor to assume office taking office.
This, he said, is left to be decided by the incoming and outgoing Governors.
The spokesman said the present incumbent of the Raj Bhavan General S K Sinha assumed his appointment nearly four weeks after the notification was issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Similarly, his predecessor, Mr Girish Chandra Saxena also assumed his office 12 days after his appointment was announced. This has been the practice in all the States, he maintained.
