Rains elude city for 2nd day;IMD says Monsoon progress normal
New Delhi, Jun 18 (UNI) It was another sultry day for Delhiites today with the rains eluding the Capital city for the second day after early onset of monsoons on Sunday, even as weatherman said monsoon was progressing normally.
The dry spell persisted in the city for the second consecutive day. And, with clouds being interspersed with periods of sunlight, sultry conditions prevailed in the city.
The maximum temperature rose from 33.9 degrees Celsius yesterday to 35.2 degrees.
Earlier in the morning, the minimum temperature was recorded at 25.6 degrees Celsius.
After the arrival of monsoon in Delhi, two weeks ahead of its scheduled date, the Capital has witnessed a dry spell over the last few days.
However, the India Meteorological department said the Monsoon was progressing normally.
''The monsoon is progressing normally over Delhi. It is normal to have a few dry days in between heavy rains. The coming days may witness some rainfall and thundershowers,''an IMD official said.
The Met office has forecast a generally cloudy sky in Delhi in the next 24 hours with a few spells of rain and thundershowers.
