Puducherry, Jun 18 (UNI) Against the backdrop of DMK snapping ties with the PMK, the Puducherry unit of PMK today maintained that the party would have nothing to do with the DMK here and it will continue to support the Congress government in the Union Territory.
In an informal interaction with reporters, a PMK legislator who preferred anoynimity said during the last assembly elections, the PMK had entered into an agreement only with the Congress for two assembly seats and a nominated member.
Prof Ramadass on behalf of PMK and Congress General Secretary A Gandhiraj, here had signed the agreement at the latter's residence and the DMK has no role in it.
Presently, the PMK has three legislators, including one nominated member supporting the government here. However, the scenerio would change when the Congress and the DMK fight Parliament elections round-the-corner, sans the PMK in their fold. The PMK would be in a fix as it may not be able to get the Puducherry seat which would be contested either by the Congress or the DMK. The PMK could not win the elections even if it contests alone.
The PMK is holding the Puducherry Lok Sabha seat and party founder leader Dr S Ramadoss had recently opined that the present member Prof M Ramadass could be given a second-term considering his achievements as a Parliment member.
