Gorakhpur, Jun 18 (UNI) In the wake of recent incidents of threat e-mails, the police administration made identity proof mandatory for Internet surfers in cyber cafes.
In a meeting of senior policemen and cyber cafe owners here, the police briefed them on their dos and don'ts.
Election identity card or any indentity proof of recognised institute would now be neccessary for the cyber cafe visitors, police officials said.
Besides, a register should be maintained stating the name, address and phone number of the browsers.
Stringent action would be taken against the cafe owner for not following the directives, official added.
Earlier, terrorists and anti-social elements had used city cyber cafe's for sending threat e-mails.
