Kurukshetra, Jun 18: A young panch of Biholi village in the district allegedly committed suicide yesterday evening to shown his resentment and anguish against the alleged atrocities of the Haryana police unleashed on three youths of the village, including himself.
The panch identified as Ravinder Kumar consumed a poisonous substance to end his life after leaving behind a suicide note holding the police of Karnal district responsible for his death, police sources today confirmed.
He died in a private hospital late last night despite the best efforts of the doctors to save him.
In the 11-page suicide note, the panch alleged that he alongwith two other youths of the village was illegally detained by the police after a girl of Uchani village went missing. In the note he claimed that no FIR was registered against him or his two friends in the case at any police station in Karnal district or in Butana police station under whose jurisdiction Uchani village fell.
The residents of Biholi village expressed their resentment when they went to take the dead body of their panch from the civil hospital after the post mortem. Local police officials have assured the villagers of action as per the law against the erring police personnel of Karnal district.
