Bhubaneswar, Jun 18 (UNI) The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will lead the Progressive Democratic Alliance in Orissa in the next Assembly and Parliamentary elections, party's General Secretary D P Tripathy today said.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Tripathy, also the chief spokesperson, said the the NCP would talk to the like minded parties to form the PDA in the state.
He said Left parties such as CPI, CPI(M) and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and other smaller parties would be consulted for an alliance but ruled out any truck with the Samajwadi Party.
On being asked as to whether the NCP will like to have any alliance with the Congress party, Mr Tripathy said nothing has been finalised on that party. If the Congress was keen to forge an alliance with the PDA then the matter would be considered.
He claimed the NCP was growing very fast in Orissa with former parliamentarians, ex-ministers, retired senior police officers and film personalities.
In fact Orissa, Mr Tripathy said, has the best team among all the states after Maharastra.
