Udupi, June 18: Karnataka Minister for Home V S Acharya today ruled out possibility of an inquiry by the CBI into the alleged suicide by BJP Legislator Raghupathy Bhat's wife Padmapriya at New Delhi on June 15.

"Our Police are well versed and there is no question of handing over the investigation to CBI as demanded by some opposition parties and Women Organisations. Since the state police are investigating the case, the question of handing over the investigation to CBI does not arise. Are you not confident on the functioning of the state police," he questioned. Talking to newsmen here, Mr Acharya said that the question of continuing Additional Director General of Police A R Infant as the head of the investigation team into the alleged suicide of Padmapriya would be taken only after receiving all the reports.

"The government was awaiting detailed investigation reports from New Delhi, Bangalore and Udupi. The postmortem report of Padmapriya conducted at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi was expected to be received soon by the Karnataka police team camping there".
