Kerala withdraws ban on appointments in aided colleges
Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 18 (UNI) The Kerala Government has decided to withdraw the ban on appointments in aided colleges in the state, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said today.
The Cabinet had given its approval in this regard. Except in the posts granted by the courts, the aided college managements could make the appointments, he told mediapersons here.
The cabinet decided to grant free ration to fishermen, who were working in mechanised boats, peeling shed labourers and harbour workers for 47 days during the period of trawling ban.
It also approved the report of expert committee headed by noted poet O N V Kurup for setting up a Malayalam Mission, aimed at introducing Malayalam language and culture of Kerala to children of NRIs, the Chief Minister said.
He added it was decided to recommend President Pratibha devisingh to take necessary steps for granting a bench of the High Court here.
The government had decided to appoint P Salim, IAS, as the new General Manager of the Civil Supplies Corporation and E Gopinathan, IFS, as Lottery Director, he added.
