Chennai, June 18 : A split in the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) alliance came after the members of the DMK unanimously decided in its party meeting late last night to not to continue relations with the PMK as its founder S. Ramadoss had made several speeches criticising DMK's decisions.

The resolution adopted at the end of hour-long deliberations of the party's High Level Policy Implementation Committee here, said that the party has decided to part ways with the PMK as its leader spoke in 'a cheap and derogatory manner', which sought to ruin the DMK's self-respect.

The members of the DMK said, " The PMK made fun of all the schemes we implemented and was issuing statements and interviews against the DMK government highlighting its failure in every sphere."

Karunanidhi said S. Ramadoss secured cheap publicity by giving an impression to the people that the DMK government was against the people.

He said that he has no problem with the PMK ministers at the Centre as Dr. Ramadoss' son Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss and Minister of State for Railways R. Velu are doing a good job.

He said that he would not press the UPA to remove the PMK from the alliance at the Centre, so Ambumani Ramadoss can continue his services at the Centre.
